 THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

An enterprising person is one who comes across a pile of scrap metal and sees the making of a wonderful sculpture. An enterprising person is one who drives through an old decrepit part of town and sees a new housing development. An enterprising person is one who sees opportunity in all areas of life.

Jim Rohn

WELCOME FROM QUENTIN and the STAFF of Sound Bites & IM Training

Welcome to another issue of Sound Bites

There are some great resources you can get for your business from different government departments, chamber of commerce and local council departments. Obviously in different countries these have different names suffice to say they are the public service departments in your area.

Here in Australia we have a number of free seminars put on by some of these different organizations and this week I have been to a few. At one of the seminars on marketing your web I was given the book which you can download below.

The beauty of a lot of this material is that it is not bent towards any particular group of people like many of the eBooks around today. Also they are not crammed full of adds for other programs etc.

Smarter marketing is simple: marketing powered by clear relevant and actionable insight and more than likely the richest source of that insight today comes from analyzing the ability and behavior of customers and prospers visiting your web site.
.
And whether you spend none some or most of your marketing efforts on your web site isn't the point - it's likely most of your prospects and customers are visiting your site as their first or next point of interaction with you.
And their activity on your site will deliver a wealth of actionable insight or insight that will demonstrate what actions you must take to increase the success of their web visits-for you as a business and for them as a site visitor. Studying their web site ability and behaviour is simply known as web analysis.

Resale Rights.

Lots of people have been asking me about resale rights over the last few weeks and to tell you the truth I don't buy them much any more as I have joined a site run by a fellow Australian and he buys most of them and then makes them available to me.

This is probably the easiest way to get a whole range of extra products and teaching all for one low price. Check it out Info Product Marketing  Alan also provides some great training and marketing courses in the site.

I have even been taking some of the content out of these resale rights to create my own articles, build content for websites and adsense sites.

Also we are running our coaching course online for anybody interested. Just go to http://theimclub.com and sign up for free.

SPECIAL OF THE WEEK - Automatic Money Machine

HIFI Audio Stream

Just recently I found a product that has been doing quite well and generating some nice residual income. Ok it is not making a fortune but it is sure helping pay a few bills.

The concept is simple. You register a relavant domain name and pick your niche. Add your adsense, ebay affiliate and click bank id and a few little bits and pieces and then it generates a whole website for you. You then drive some traffic with articles, search engines etc and it converts in many different ways.

Have a look at my site. To get your own just click on the banner at the top of the page.
listen to this great audio all about the product.
So there you have it an almost automatic income generator with rss feeds and rotating information.

  COACHING - Blogging

Hello and welcome to this weeks coaching. A special welcome to all our new members.

This month we look at Blogging and how you can Use this system for fun and profit.

Blogging has been around for years however marketers have just realised that it can be a great way to drive traffic, inform your customers and also send people to your main site. This is just a taste and you can download more information below.

What is a Blog

Blogs are different than regular static sites. Although a blog is really just a fancy word for a content management system, it is just a regular site with enhanced and easy
editing, a blog has a sense of urgency and "newness." People read blogs because there is a general feeling that the information posted is more current compared to static sites.

This is true when the blogger is very regular with new material and gives people a reason to tune in frequently.

Blogging

"Blog" is internet shorthand for "web log." They’re like online diaries. Unlike a real diary, however, the entire world gets to read them.

You should seriously look into keeping a blog, or inviting others to blog on your site. Blogging is one of the hottest new forms of contents, and many readers find it positively addictive. In fact, it’s grown so fast that many traditional news sources such as newspapers and TV stations are seeing an increase in declining readers and viewers (it was already declining due to the internet, but it got worse) because users are finding out they can go online and read a reporter’s personal blog, which often gives juicy details that are not reported in formal news stories.

So people seek out blogs to get the real scoop. What does that mean for you? It means you should capitalize on it. What does blog look like? It looks like this.

I have been setting up a few over the last few months as I noticed they were driving traffic to my site and also increasing my rankings on the search engines. You can also add audio and video to these blogs.

Blogging and Pinging

Some of the very biggest buzz words on the internet right now are Blogging and Pinging. Many internet gurus claim these are the essentials for attracting visitors to your site and consequentially making those bucks through AdSense.

The best kind of blog lets readers put in their 2 cents worth. People love to be able to voice their opinions, and tend to get frustrated when they can’t. Thus, the best blog is an online discussion web site that allows both you the web owner and your readers to voice their opinions on a specific subject.

So where do you begin? Well, for one thing, your blog needs to be specific to succeed, unless you’re a celebrity. People will go to Paris Hilton’s site to read just about any fool thing she writes off the top of her head, but don’t think you can do that. I know it’s not fair, but that’s how it is.

If you’re not famous, you need to focus on a niche topic. For instance rather than run a Blog on dogs why not specialize in black labs or some other breed? I guarantee you, if you put a cute picture of a black lab with a red bandana around her neck up, you’ll have all the other black lab owners dropping by to tell stories about their own dogs.

Pinging, is how you tell the entire Blog community as a whole that your Blog site is up and running. Most Blog software has a feature that does this for you when a new post or comment has been made.

To put Blog software on your own server and running it independently on your site, I have found Wordpress to be excellent software and this can be downloaded at http://www.wordpress.org

We live in the information age, and there’s just no getting around it. Information and news happens every single day, and savvy site surfers will expect you to update your content regularly. In fact, they’d prefer you to do that daily, or even hourly. And yes-I mean 24/7 hours.

RSS Feeds

But you gotta sleep, right? And have some time off occasionally. So instead of spending every waking hour relentlessly surfing around from site to site looking for content, wouldn’t you prefer it to be streamed in to your site? Well now you can, thanks to a very clever service, RSS.

RSS works so well that a lot of site owners swear it stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. Why is it simple? Because you just select the content you like and have it delivered directly to your site.

If you’re a busy person-and who isn’t, these days-RSS feeds can take the hassle out of staying up-to-date, by streaming in the very latest information that you are interested in.

So where do you get this good stuff? Well, if it’s news you want, most of the major news sites provide it since it is growing rapidly in popularity. A few news services that provide it are Guardian, New York Times and CNN.

Well, the first thing you’re gonna need is a news reader. There are many different versions of these, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want.

My top picks for news readers, listed by the operating system they work with, are:

    1. Mac OS X: NetNewsWire This is a simple yet elegant Mac-like aggregator that any one can use, yet it’s powerful.
    2. Windows: RSS Reader A very simple tool, but it delivers the goods
    3. Linux: Straw The best very aggregator for GNOME.
    4. Web: Bloglines Enough said.

Now, after you’ve chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide what content you want. For example, if you would like the latest BBC News Entertainment stories, simply visit the Entertainment section and you will notice an orange RSS button on the left hand side.

The RSS button typically looks like this example from the BBC (http://www.bbc.com) page:

If you click on the RSS button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways: you can either drag the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader, or you can cut and paste the URL into a new feed in your news reader.

Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, have functionality that automatically picks up RSS feeds for you. To make absolutely sure, check the details on the homesites of those browsers.

RSS feeds are a great way to get free content streaming onto your pages.

The only downside is that most of the free RSS feeds are news-oriented or entertainment-oriented, so if you run, say, a site that focuses on the latest video games, your audience may not really care that they can get the latest news streaming in there.

As far as the nitty-gritty, each RSS channel can contain up to 15 items and is easily parsed using Perl or other open source software. If you want more details, I suggest you check out Jonathan Eisenzopf's excellent article in the February issue of Web Techniques.

But you don't really have to worry too much over the details, since a simple Google search on "free open source RSS feed scripts" will produce the code you need to create your own RSS channel.

The next step, once you've created and validated your RSS text file, is to register it at the various aggregators, and start watching your traffic really spike. This happens because now any site can grab and display your feed regularly, which will drive traffic straight to your site.

It gets better-if you update your RSS file, all the external sites that subscribe to your feed will be automatically updated. What could be easier, other than watching those nice, fat checks from your Google AdSense ads roll in? Well, if you use RSS feeds, they’ll work together!

So thats just a taste of blogging and if you want more here is a great ebook. This is not free but I have arranged it just for you. Download for a more comprehensive overview Zip PDF Ebook 870

TIPS AND TRICKS - My First Short Movie.

A few weeks ago I started my video career and did a weekend course at the Qld Film and television school. This is the short film we made while learning camera technique, scripting etc. You will notice we still have a bit to learn on lighting. They sent it to me on a DVD so I had to find something to rip it with so I could stream it and this is a simple little product for that. You can then use MSI Web Video to put it all together on your site just like this.

FEATURE ARTICLE - Website Content Increases Traffic

Three Reasons Why More Website Content Increases Traffic

People typically visit the internet in search of information. They are looking for content that is relevant to their purpose. They typically are not looking for marketing ploys. There are a number of ways to increase this content, including having a search engine optimization company provide you with keyword rich articles, but there are three major reasons why more website content increases your website traffic.

The first reason more website content increases traffic is that content articles tend to be focused on a topic. This focus will then lead to the repeated use of a keyword or phrase. That repeated use leads to higher search engine rankings. Search engine rankings are the way returns come back to an internet user through a search engine. If someone searches for the term “dogs” they will come back with thousands of pages of results. The order those results are displayed on the screen depends on a number of factors including how frequently the term is mentioned on the site and where it is mentioned on the site.

Research shows that people tend only to click on the first ten results a search engine offers them. Increasing your website content will help you become one of those first ten websites. This means more people than you ever thought possible will be clicking on your site in no time simply based on your website ranking. Not only will you be closer to the top of the search engine with more content, you may also be indexed by more search engines. This could mean something like ninety percent of all internet users seeing your website in any one given internet session.

The second reason more website content increases traffic is a bit more complicated. If you have strong, well written content on your site, you increase your credibility with customers. Suddenly you are no longer a company selling homemade dog food; you are somebody who can offer knowledgeable advice about anything a responsible dog owner needs to know including house training, leash laws, and sleeping problems. This increase in credibility not only makes people believe what you have posted to your site, it also makes them want to stay at your site to read the rest of your content articles. The more content articles you have at your site, the longer they will stay. Keeping them there as long as possible is the key to selling your product to them. You have a much longer time frame in which to pitch your product and close the sale.

Not only will they stay at your site longer with more content, but this also means they may come back to your site the next time they log onto their machine. For example, if you are selling refilled printer ink cartridges, but you have content on your site related to all things printers, you have a good chance that someone might stay to look at a few of the articles. However, the next time they need digital photo printing tips, chances are good that they will remember what great content you offered them during their last internet session, and they will return directly to your site just to read more of your content. This means you have their complete, undivided attention for an even longer period of time. Moreover, if they are returning to your site on some sort of regular basis, chances are good that they will recommend the site to other users like friends and relatives which will mean even more traffic for your site.

The final way more website content increases your web traffic is that it increases the likelihood that advertisers and reciprocal link exchangers will be attracted to your site. Reciprocal links are exchanged by websites that have similar interests. The more relevant topics you are able to list, the more chances you have of someone with similar interests attempting to link to your site. This could greatly increase your website traffic because not only will people be able to find your site through search engines, they may also be able to find your site through other sites. Further, though, advertisers are looking for sites that encourage customers they want to do business with. More keywords will mean more customers for you which can mean more advertisers for you which can mean more profits and visibility for you.

No matter which reason you choose, more content will increase your website traffic. That can only mean good things in store for you and your website. You can have your content articles written for you or write them yourself. Whichever way you go, though, be sure they are well-written, as poorly written articles will do nothing to increase your website traffic.

Many people use the free services however this is not as effective to drive traffic to your sites. By hosting your own blog you have full control and also get all the credit.

Not only that but I will also show you how to then feed that information into your own site creating backlinks and better search engine ranking. Click here to get your copy
