Welcome to another issue of Sound Bites by Quentin Brown
Well here it is February and it is a time when many people go into a slump because Christmas is catching up to them, back into work and holidays are over. Yes even I get into a rut sometimes.
You know what a rut is: A grave with both ends kicked out.
I know that over the break and up to a couple of weeks ago I got into the habit of listening to talk back radio and watching the news every night. About the middle of January I told my wife I was so depressed and could not work out what it was so went away for a day alone to get it all figured out.
Sitting on the beach on the Gold Coast I reflected over what I had been doing.
Talk back radio had about two good stories a day (2 min) and the rest was people complaining about governments or local issues. A lot on how life had delt them a bad hand.
TV news was not much better.
So I stopped them both and lo and behold my depression left.
Now maybe this is only true in Australia that the media is like this. I know that I have a bunch of audios in the cupboard that I had purchased and never listened to so I started listening to them.
Wow life changed that week and I am back on top.
If you are feeling a little down have a look at what you are putting into your brain and possibly that is where the problem is.
Have a great week and do a little personal evaluation.
